FUNERAL HELD: Anita Marie Barrette
DATELINE: Swanton, Vermont
The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, December 21, 2015, at 3 p.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The pastor, Father Luke P. Austin was the principle celebrant and homilist. Concelebrating was Father Marcel R. Rainville, SSE from the Office of Campus Ministry at Saint Michaels College. Edward Daniel and Kevin Trahan served as Ministers of the Altar. A guard of honor was formed by members of the Nativity Altar Society.
Music was provided by soloist, Jeanne Begnoche accompanied by organist, Michael Olmstead. The White Funeral Pall was draped over Anita’s casket by her daughter, Paula Howrigan and daughter-in-law, Linda Barrette. The Crucifix was then placed by Anita’s son, Jon Barrette. Special Words of Remembrance were shared by daughter, Paula Howrigan. Scripture Readings from The Old and New Testament were proclaimed by granddaughter, Jennifer Bouchard and grandson, Patrick Howrigan. The Offertory Gifts were presented by granddaughter, Sara Bigelow and great granddaughter, Bella Bigelow.
Among the delegations in attendance were representatives from the Vermont House of Representatives, E.J. Barrette and Son Ford, Swanton Town and Village Offices, Sheldon Town Offices, Sheldon School District, The Handy Group, Paquin Auto Park, Cobb Auto, The Boat Works, Rene Fournier Farm Equipment, Office of Attorney George Spear, Highgate Historical Society, Northwestern Medical Center and Auxiliary, Swanton Village Fire Department and Auxiliary, Drummac, Campbell’s Bay Campground, Chevalier Insurance, Local Avon Representatives, Swanton Public Library, Cost Effective Business Solutions, O.C. McCuin, Memorial United Methodist Church, West Swanton United Methodist Church, Swanton Christian Church, The Parts Store, Northwest Supervisory Union-Office of the Superintendent of Schools, Bourdeau Brothers, West Swanton Orchards, and the parish communities of Saint Patrick in Fairfield and Nativity-Saint Louis of Swanton and Highgate.
The Rite of Committal and Interment will take place later at the Barrette family lot in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery. The bearers were grandchildren, Sara Bigelow, Shane Howrigan, Jennifer Bouchard, Meredith Henry, Aaron Barrette, Kevin Howrigan, Patrick Howrigan; great granddaughter, Bella Bigelow and nephew, Lawrence Barrette.
Following The Liturgy a reception was held for family and friends at the Nativity Parish Center catered by The Abbey Group and hosted by, Mrs. Joyce Bombardier and the Nativity Ladies of Saint Anne.
