FUNERAL HELD: Remi Yves Bourdeau

DATELINE: Saint Albans / Swanton


The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, October 29, 2016, at 10 a.m. from Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church. Father Maurice J. Roy was the celebrant and homilist. Assisting as Deacon was The Reverend Mr. Duane Langlois. Norman Bushey, James McMillan and Jonathan Quick served as Ministers of the Altar. Assisting with the distribution of communion was Eucharistic Minister, Julie Longway.


A large guard on honor was formed by members of the Holy Angels Ladies of Saint Anne.


Also in attendance was Doctor Jason McConnell pastor of the Franklin United Church and East Franklin Union Church and Doctor John C. Kehoe pastor of the Alburgh Union Bible Church.


Music was provided by soloist and organist, Mary Jo Gillilan. Hymns selected were, Amazing Grace, You Raise Me Up, In the Garden, Jirai la voir un Jour, Psalm Twenty-Three, Ave Maria, Give Me Wings Lord, I Cross My Heart, Jealous of the Angels, Song of Farewell, Gloire A Dieu and My Way.


The White Funeral Pall was draped over Remiís casket by his children, Michelle Fenton and Jacob and Jason Bourdeau. The Crucifix was then placed by Remiís wife Charlene Bourdeau. Scripture readings from The Old and New Testament were proclaimed by grandchildren, Calla and Morgan Bourdeau. Roses were presented during The Offertory Procession by grandchildren, Kassie and Dexter Churchill, Morgan, Moriah, Connor and Sophie Bourdeau, Aaliyah Burns, Calla and Aaliyah Bourdeau and Wyatt Fenton. Gifts for the Eucharist were presented by grandson Easton Bourdeau and Colton Churchill.


Following communion Special Words of Remembrance were shared by Remiís son, Jacob Bourdeau.

The Rite of Committal and Interment followed at the Bourdeau family lot in Saint Maryís Cemetery Swanton with Father Roy reading the committal prayers. Special Music was offered during the committal service by, Quincy Russell-Green singing the hymn Amazing Grace.


The bearers were, Donald Menard, Will Manahan, Richard Bourbeau, Shannon Fairbanks, John Bourdeau, Eileen Curtis, Dale Larose and David Brouillette.


Following The Prayers of Committal a reception was held for family and friends at the American Legion, Green Mountain Post 1 in Saint Albans.


The funeral procession was escorted from the funeral home to the church and cemetery by several of Bourbeau Brothers 18 wheeler trucks as well as farm planting and harvesting equipment, assisted by the Saint Albans City Police.
