FUNERAL HELD: Robert Charles Chaperon
DATELINE: Swanton, Vermont
The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, July 23, 2016, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Father Luke P. Austin was the celebrant and homilist. Edward Daniel served as Minister of the Altar.
Music was provided by soloist, Jeanne Begnoche accompanied by organist, Michael Olmstead. During the morning visitation a vigil service was led by Deacon Joseph Sanderson. At the vigil service in the funeral home, Bob’s granddaughter Dianne Coleman offered special music by singing “Angels”.
The White Funeral Pall was draped over Bob’s casket by his daughters, Rosemary MacDurmon and Mary Clevenger. The Crucifix was then placed by his wife, Kathy. Special Words of Remembrance were shared by son, Robert Chaperon, Jr. Scripture readings from The Old and New Testament were proclaimed by grandson, Jesse Sizen and brother-in-law, Roger Clevenger. The Offertory Gifts were presented by granddaughters, Tracey Chaperon, Dianna Coleman and Elizabeth Sizen.
Among the delegations in attendance were representatives from the Swanton Village and Town Offices, Veterans of Foreign Wars Charles DaPrato Post #778 of Swanton, The American Legion Green Mountain Post #1 of Saint Albans, My-T-Fine Restaurant, Sticks & Stuff, Shaggy’s Snack Bar, Swanton Village Green Apartments, Pete Paquette Real Estate, Bev’s Shear Expectations, Franklin County Home Health Agency-Hospice Program, Swanton Community Food Shelf and the parish community of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary-Saint Louis.
The Rite of Committal and Interment followed at the Chaperon family lot in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery with Father Austin reading the committal prayers. The bearers were Bob’s son, Sean Largey; grandson, Jesse Sizen; brothers-in-law, Mark MacDurmon and Roger Clevenger and close family friends, Pete Paquette and Joseph Gregoire.
Military Honors were accorded the deceased by members of the Vermont Air Guard, Base Funeral Honors Team. The American Flag which draped the Viet Nam Veterans casket was folded by, TSgt Morrell Bunbury and presented to Bob’s wife Kathy by LtCol Michael Ramp. Taps were sounded by Bugler, TSgt Bunbury.
Following The Prayers of Committal a reception was held for family and friends at the Nativity Parish Center hosted by, Mrs. Joyce Bombardier and the Nativity Ladies of Saint Anne.
