FUNERAL HELD: Bertha J. Cheney

DATELINE: Swanton, Vermont

 

A Funeral Service was held Friday, December 2, 2016, at 1 p.m. from the Memorial United Methodist Church. The Reverend Kerry T. Cameron, pastor of the 4 PTs Rising United Methodist Parish, consisting of West Swanton, Rice, Hill, Highgate Center and Sheldon United Methodist Churches officiated.

 

A guard of honor was formed by the Auxiliary of the American Legion, Creller-Landon Post 60 of Alburgh.

 

Music was provided by soloist, Jeanne Begnoche accompanied by organist, Michael Olmstead. Hymns selected were, Surely The Presence, Going Home, Abide With Me, What A Friend We Have In Jesus, It Is Well With My Soul, Precious Lord Take My Hand, Schubertís Ave Maria, How Great Thou Art and The Rose. Special Music was offered by, Molly Renning who sang the hymn, Amazing Grace.

 

Special Words of Remembrance were shared by family friend, Robert Graham.

 

Among the large delegations in attendance were representatives from the Vermont Senate and House of Representatives, Swanton Town and Village Offices, Office of Attorney George Spear, Office of Attorney Peter Martin, Mylan Technologies, Rene Fournier Farm Equipment, Warren Fournier Home Improvement Center, Fournier Windows and Doors, The Parts Store, Hannafordís Supermarket, Northwestern Medical Center, Paws for Thought, Swanton Historical Society, Champlain Housing Trust, Shawn Cheney Real Estate, Lennyís Shoes and Apparel, Office of Attorney Vaughn Comeau, The Peoples Trust Company, Barrett Ford Sales and Service, Swanton Enhancement Committee, Mary S. Babcock and Swanton Central Schools, United States Postal Service, Swanton Rexall, Lakewood Campground, Missisquoi Valley Union High School and Rayís Tool and Die.

 

Interment followed at the Cheney family lot in the West Swanton Cemetery with The Reverend Mrs. Cameron reading the committal prayers. Prayers were also offered by the American Legion Auxiliary led by Chaplain, Donna Larose.

 

The bearers were, Jason Campbell, Marcus Cheney, Benjamin Fournier and Chris Feeley.

 

Following The Prayers of Committal a reception was held for family and friends at the Memorial United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
