FUNERAL HELD: Ernest P. “Ernie Choiniere
DATELINE: Swanton, Vermont
A Funeral Service was held Thursday, May 12, 2016, at 1 p.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home. Father Luke P. Austin, pastor of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary – Saint Louis Parish officiated.
A large guard of honor was formed by members of the American Legion, Green Mountain Post 1, Saint Albans and Missisquoi Valley Rescue.
Mr. Jeff Benay, director of the Title VII Indian Education Program shared Special Words of Remembrance.
Scripture readings from the Old and New Testament were proclaimed by granddaughter, Catherine Juaire.
Among the large delegations in a attendance were representatives from the Swanton Town and Village Offices, Abenaki Nation of Vermont, Swanton Village Fire Department and Auxiliary, Mary S. Babcock and Swanton Elementary Schools, Terricel Transit, Grand Avenue Enterprises, M&T Sand and Gravel, Primerica, Warren Fournier Home Improvement Center, Rene Fournier Farm Equipment, Laroche Repair, Swanton Public Library, The Church of the Rock, Vermont Precision Tools, Bev’s Shear Expectations, Northwest Technical Center, Dee’s Catering, Northwestern Medical Center, Franklin County Home Health Agency, Dan Hazard Construction, Local Avon Representatives, M&C Transport, Chase Auto, Drummac and the parish community of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary – Saint Louis.
The Rite of Committal and Interment followed at the Maskell / Choiniere family lot in Riverside Cemetery with Father Austin reading the committal prayers. The bearers were Allen Letourneau, Roy Gratton, Norman Loiselle, Gary Judd, Raymond Laroche and Mark “Zeb” Maskell.
Military Honors were accorded the deceased by members of the Vermont Army National Guard, Funeral Honors Team. The American Flag which draped the Vermont National Guardsman’s casket was folded by Sgt Jameson Ringey and presented to daughter, Kristin Choiniere by, Sgt Jeremy Westover. Taps were sounded by Sgt Jameson Ringey.
Following The Prayers of Committal and Military honors a reception was held for family and friends at the Saint Albans Knights of Columbus Hall hosted by family and friends.
