FUNERAL HELD: Joseph L. Gamache

 DATELINE: Swanton, Vermont


The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, September 24, 2016, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Father Luke P. Austin was the celebrant and homilist. Assisting as Ministers of the Altar were Eugene LaBombard and Cleo Yandow. Music was provided by soloist, Andrew LaRocque accompanied by organist, A. James Cota.


A large guard of honor was formed by members of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Saint Edmund of Canterbury Council #2207 of Swanton led by Faithful Navigator, Kevin Trahan.


The White Funeral Pall was draped over Mr. Gamache’s casket by nieces, Diane Brigham and Denise Bruley. Grandson, Nicholas Conger then placed the Crucifix. Scripture readings from The Old and New Testament were proclaimed by granddaughter, Holly Conger. The Offertory Gifts were presented by Joe’s three daughters, Susan Gamache, Elaine Messier and Lisa Conger.


Among the delegations in attendance were representatives from the Swanton Town and Village Offices, The University of Vermont Medical Center, The University of Vermont Telecommunications Network Service Departments, The Parts Store, Swanton Village Green Apartments, Swanton Rexall, Chevalier Drilling, Neal Speer Construction, Open Arms Construction, Mary S. Babcock and Swanton Central Schools, Visiting Nurse Association, Swanton Historical Society, Nativity Ladies of Saint Anne and Altar Society, Alburgh Union Bible Church led by The Reverend Doctor John C. Kehoe, The Paquin Group, Swanton Chamber of Commerce, Terricel Transit, M&T Sand and Gravel, Bev’s Shear Expectations and the parish community of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary-Saint Louis.


The Rite of Committal and Interment followed at the Gamache family lot in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery with Father Austin reading the committal prayers.  The Honorary Bearers were granddaughter, Holly Conger and Bruce Letourneau. The Active Bearers were grandson, Nicholas Conger; son-in-law, Gary Messier and nephews, Marcel Gamache, Raymond Gamache, Bernard Gamache and Gary St. Pierre.


Following The Prayers of Committal a reception was held for family and friends at the Nativity Parish Center hosted by. Mrs. Joyce Bombardier the Nativity Ladies of Saint Anne.
