FUNERAL HELD: Barbara Jean Lagrandeur

 DATELINE: Swanton, Vermont


The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday, July 1, 2016, at 1 p.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Father Luke P. Austin was the celebrant and homilist. Assisting as Deacon was, The Reverend Mr. Joseph Sanderson. Edward Daniel and Paul Laroche served as Ministers of the Altar.


Music was provided by soloist, Jeanne Begnoche accompanied by organist, Michael Olmstead.


The White Funeral Pall was draped over Barbara’s casket by her grandchildren, Hannah and Lucas Cadieux. The Crucifix was then placed by her daughter, Stacy Cadieux. Scripture readings from both The Old and New Testament were proclaimed by Edward Daniel. Hannah and Lucas Cadieux also presented The Offertory Gifts. The Prayers of Final Commendation and Farewell were offered by Deacon Sanderson assisted Father Austin.


Among the delegations in attendance were representatives from the Swanton Village and Town Offices, Franklin Northwest Supervisory Union - Office of the Superintendent of Schools, Highgate School District, Franklin School District, Northwestern Medical Center, Alburgh RV Resort, Leduc Construction, Hannaford Supermarket, Office of Doctor Elizabeth Nelson, Richford High School - Class of 1958, Our Lady of the Meadows and Ave Maria Homes, Nativity Bereavement Support Group, Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary – Saint Louis Parish Community, as well as many friends from the Richford, Vermont Area.


The Rite of Committal and Interment followed at Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery with, Deacon Sanderson assisted by, Father Austin reading the committal prayers. The bearers were Barbara’s grandchildren, Hannah and Lucas Cadieux; brother, Peter Lucia and nieces and nephews, Jeremy Lucia, Amanda Salisbury and Jennie Broe.
