FUNERAL HELD: Allan Paul Laroche
DATELINE: Swanton / Highgate Center
The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday, September 23, 2016, from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The pastor, Father Luke P. Austin was the principle celebrant and homilist. Concelebrating was Allan’s Uncle, Father Leonidas B. Laroche and Father Timothy Sullivan chaplain of The University of Vermont Medical Center. Assisting as Deacon was, The Reverend Mr. Gabriel Gagne. Edward Daniel and Cleo Yandow served at the Altar and Allan’s brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary and Arlene Thompson served as Eucharistic Ministers.
A large guard of honor was formed by members of the Fourth Degree Knights Columbus which included Saint Edmund of Canterbury Assembly #2207 of Swanton and Bishop Robert F. Joyce Assembly #2609 of Milton led by, Past State Deputy Thomas Curran, Former District Master Ed Malila, District Marshall and Swanton, Faithful Navigator Kevin Trahan and Milton Faithful Navigator Robert Kelm. Also participating in the honor guard were members of the Catholic Daughters of American Court Saint Mary #468 of Saint Albans and TOPS Chapter #97 of Saint Albans led by Joyce Gaudette.
Music was provided by soloist, Andrew and James LaRocque accompanied by organist, A. James Cota.
The White Funeral Pall was draped over Allan’s casket by, Steven Laroche Angelia Lasnier, Linda Hurlbut, Chante Laroche, Annette Thompson-Triner, Stephanie Peabody, Natalie Thompson–Lloyd, Debbie Thompson, Nicole Vanslette and Micheline Kelly. The Crucifix was then placed by Allan’s wife, Ruth. Scripture readings from The Old and New Testament were proclaimed by, Michelle Tatro and Julie White. The Offertory Gifts were presented by, Bridgette Favreau, Maria Nesbit, Chelsey Thompson and Alissa Chiasson.
Among the many delegations in attendance were representatives from the Vermont Senate and House of Representatives, Swanton Town and Village Offices, Champlain Housing Trust, Swanton Historical Society, Mylan Technology, Lake Champlain Chocolates, Chevalier Drilling, Neal Speer Construction, Ste Marie’s Market, Saint Albans Bay Store, United States Postal Service, Northwestern Medical Center, The University of Vermont Medical center, Cota’s Auto Parts and Service, Pizzagali Construction, Central Vermont Railroad, Local Avon Representatives, Swanton Village Green Apartments, Swanton Rexall, Office of Attorney George Speer and the parish community of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary-Saint Louis.
The Rite of Committal and Interment followed at the Laroche family lot in Saint Louis Roman Catholic Cemetery, Highgate Center with Father Austin assisted by Father Laroche and Deacon Gagne reading the committal prayers. The bearers were, Raymond Laroche, Robert Laroche, Matthew Laroche, Danny Juaire, Michael Juaire, Christopher Thompson, Leon Thompson and Edward Thompson.
Following The Prayers of Committal a reception was held for family and friends at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Charles DaPrato Post #778 in Swanton.
