FUNERAL HELD: Rodney Raymond Machia
DATELINE: Highgate Center, Vermont
The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at 11 a.m. from Saint Louis Roman Catholic Church. Father Luke P. Austin was the celebrant and homilist. John Ferland and Paul Laroche served as Ministers of the Altar.
Music was provided by organist and soloist, Mary Jo Gillilan. Hymns selected were, Amazing Grace, The Hands Of God Shall Hold You, Psalm Twenty-Three, Song of Compassion, Don’t Cry For Me, The Song of Farewell and All I Ask Of You.
The White Funeral Pall was draped over Rodney’s casket by his son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Jessica Machia. Crucifixes were then placed by daughter, Kelly Hoague and son, Greg Machia. Scripture readings from both the Old and New Testament were proclaimed by Paul Laroche.
Among the delegations in attendance were representatives from the Vermont State Police, Vermont Department of Probation and Parole, Vermont Department of Corrections, Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, Highgate Town Offices, Paquin Auto Park, Price Chopper, Green Mountain Forest Products and Dairy, Highgate School District and the parish community of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary – Saint Louis Parish and Saint Mary Mission of Franklin.
The Rite of Committal and Interment followed at the Machia family lot in Saint Louis Cemetery with Father Austin reading the committal prayers. The bearers were grandsons, Adam Hoague, Alex Hoague, Dustin Hoague and Dustin Machia as well as nephews and Godsons, Kirk Cooper and Daniel Cooper.
Following The Prayers of Committal a reception was held for family and friends at the Father Jean Paul Laplante Parish Center hosted by Mrs. Raymonde Choiniere and the Saint Louis Ladies of Saint Anne.
