FUNERAL HELD: Clyde Stanley Mercier, Jr.

 DATELINE: Swanton, Vermont

 

The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, June 14, 2010, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Father Thomas D. Nadeau was the celebrant and homilist. Edward Daniel and Eugene LaBombard served as Ministers of the Altar. Music was provided by soloists, Andrew and James LaRocque accompanied by organist, Mrs. Elaine L’Esperance. A large guard of honor was formed by members of the American Legion, Green Mountain Post 1 of Saint Albans. The White Funeral Pall was draped over Clyde’s casket by his children, William Mercier, Vicky Mercier and Becky Hess. The Crucifix was then placed by niece, Alice Amilhat Parent. Friends Donna and Jacque Beaulieu presented The Offertory Gifts. Among the delegations in attendance were representatives from the Swanton Community Food Shelf, Enosburgh Falls Country Club, BFA Athletic Department, Orkin New England Region, McDonalds Early Morning Coffee Group and associates of the former Ayerst Laboratories. The Rite of Committal and Interment followed in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery with Father Nadeau reading the committal prayers. The bearers were, Carl Hess, Richard Parks III, David Hess, William Mercier, Jr., Matt Laroche and Dick Lewis.  Full Military Honors were accorded the deceased by members of the Vermont Army National Guard, Funeral Honors Team. The American Flag which honored the U.S. Navy Veteran was folded by SPC Danielle Quenneville and presented to Mrs. Betty Pudvah by SPC Angelo Pasquale. Taps were sounded by SPC Jack Curtis.
