FUNERAL HELD: Bernard Raymond Moreau
DATELINE: Swanton, Vermont
The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, May 7, 2016, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The pastor, Father Luke P. Austin was the principle celebrant and homilist. Other concelebrating priests were, Father Leonidas B. Laroche, pastor emeritus of Saint Patrick Parish Fairfield and Father William P. Giroux, present pastor of Saint Patrick’s. Bernard’s brother-in-law, Joseph Gamache and longtime family friend, Edward Daniel served as Ministers of the Altar.
Music was provided by soloist, Jeanne Begnoche accompanied by organist, Michael Olmstead.
The White Funeral Pall was draped over Bernard’s casket by nieces, Diane Brigham and Nancy Campbell. Niece, Rosemary St. Pierre then placed the Crucifix. Special Words of Remembrance were shared by, Edward Daniel. Scripture readings from the Old and New Testament were proclaimed by great niece, Holly Conger and nephew, Rene St. Pierre. The Offertory Gifts were presented by nieces, Lisa Conger and Elaine Messier.
Among the delegations in attendance were representatives from the Swanton Village and Town Offices, Swanton Chamber of Commerce, Saint Anne’s Academy Alumni Association, Swanton Historical Society, Swanton Village Fire Department and Auxiliary, former associates and colleagues of the Vermont State Hospital, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Mary S. Babcock and Swanton Central Schools, Associates of the former Prouty’s IGA Store, H.G. Berger and Son, The Parts Store, Barrette Ford, Flowers by Debbie, Open Arms Construction, Swanton Rexall, Swanton Village Apartments and the parish communities of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary – Saint Louis of Swanton and Highgate, Saint Patrick’s Fairfield and Saint Andrew’s Waterbury.
The Rite of Committal and Interment followed at the Moreau family lot in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery with Father Austin assisted by Father Giroux reading the committal prayers. The bearers were nephews, Rene, Gary, Thomas, and Mark St. Pierre, Shawn Trahan and great nephew, Nicholas Conger.
Following The Prayers of Committal a reception was held for family and friends at the Nativity Parish Center hosted by, Mrs. Joyce Bombardier and the Nativity Ladies of Saint Anne.
