The Liturgy of Christian Burial was concelebrated
Thursday, April 29, 2010, at 11 a.m. from Saint Amadeus Roman Catholic
Church. Long time family friend, The Reverend Monsignor Wendell H. Searles
was the celebrant and homilist. Concelebrating was Father Timothy Sullivan,
Roman Catholic Chaplain at Fletcher Allen Health Care. Assisting as Deacon
was The Reverend Mr. Alan Vincelette. Mark Batchelder served as Minister of
the Altar.. Music was provided by soloist Maurice Gauthier accompanied by organist,
Carol Pellerin. A Guard of Honor was formed by members of the American
Legion, Creller Landon Post 60 and Auxiliary. Calvin was carried to the
church and cemetery by his daughter, Lisa Arnold and the Crucifix was placed
by his wife of 59 years, Lorraine.
The Old Testament Reading
was proclaimed by granddaughter, Sarah Carson and The New Testament Reading
by granddaughter Elizabeth Tatro. The Offertory Gifts of bread, wine and
flowers were presented by all of Calvin’s grand and great grandchildren.
Following communion Special Words of Remembrance were shared by his three
children, Cathy Tatro, Thomas Mumley and Lisa Arnold. Among the large
delegations in attendance were representatives from the, United States Postal
Service, Alburgh Village and Town Offices, Alburgh Public Library, Alburgh
Historical Society, Alburgh and Grand Isle School Districts, Poissant Auto,
Mylan Technologies, Island in the Sun Senior Citizens, Alburgh and Isle La Motte
Cemetery Commissions, Irick Excavating, Senesac Memorials, Alburgh Volunteer
Fire Department and Rescue, Fletcher Allen Heath Care, Northwestern Medical
Center, Chittenden Bank, Isle La Motte United Methodist Church, The Islander,
Visiting Nurse Association, and the parish communities of Saint Amadeus,
Saint Joseph’s Mission and Saint Anne Shrine. The Rite of Committal and
Interment followed at the Mumley family lot in Saint Amadeus Cemetery with
Monsignor Searles reading the committal prayers. Full Military Honors were
accorded the deceased by members of the Vermont Army National Guard, Funeral
Honors Team. Officer in Charge was, SPC Darrell McClay. The American Flag
honoring the World War II veteran was folded by, SPC Danielle Quenneville and
SPC Jack Curtis and presented to Mrs. Lorraine
Mumley by, SPC McClay. SPC Jack Curtis
sounded Taps. Following The Prayers of Committal and Military Services a
reception was held for family and friends at the Saint Amadeus Parish Center
hosted by Maurice Gauthier as well as the Alburgh community of friends and
neighbors.
