FUNERAL HELD: Wayne Robert Parah

 DATELINE: Swanton, Vermont


The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Father Luke P. Austin was the celebrant and homilist. Assisting as Minister of the Altar was Paul Laroche. A guard of honor was formed by members of the American Legion, Green Mountain Post #1 of Saint Albans.


Music was provided by organist and soloist, Mary Jo Gillilan. Hymns selected were, The Hands of God Shall Hold You, The Old Rugged Cross, The Twenty Third Psalm, Here I Am Lord, Hallelujah, Amazing Grace, The Song of Farewell and My Star is Shining.


The White Funeral Pall was draped over Wayne’s casket by granddaughters, Loralee Bechard and Meaghan Conger. The Crucifix was then placed by daughter, Tammy Conger. Scripture readings from the Old and New Testament were proclaimed by Wayne’s brother, Maurice Parah and granddaughter, Loralee Bechard. The Offertory Gifts were presented by brother and sister-in-law, Maurice and Judy Parah and sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Rick Green.


The Rite of Committal and Interment followed in Riverside Cemetery with Father Austin reading the committal prayers. The bearers were, Wayne’s two sons, Wayne Parah Jr. and Charles Parah as well as, Michael Conger, Hunter Parah, Chris Parah and Arthur Anthony.


Military Honors were accorded the deceased by members of the Vermont Army National Guard, Funeral Honors Team. The American Flag which draped the Korean Veterans casket was folded by, SSG Ryan Pelletier and presented to Wayne’s wife Norma Parah by, MSG Roland Voyer. Taps were sounded by bugler, SSG Ryan Pelletier. 


Following The Prayers of Committal a reception was held for family and friends at the Nativity Parish Center hosted by Mrs. Joyce Bombardier and the Nativity Ladies of Saint Anne.
