FUNERAL HELD: Roland Wesley “Charlie” Pearo

The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday, June 18, 2010, at 11 a.m. from The Chapel at Saint Anne’s Shrine. Shrine Director Father Brian J. Cummings, SSE was the celebrant and homilist. Concelebrating was Father Thomas D. Nadeau, pastor of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary / Saint Louis Parish. Music was provided by guitarist and soloist, Jerome Monachino. A guard of honor was formed by members from the Swanton Sector of the United States Border Patrol. The White Funeral Pall was draped over Mr. Pearo’s casket by his children, Connie Boutin, Herbie Pearo and his wife Tawnia and Philip Pearo and his wife Aileen. Connie then placed the crucifix. The first reading from The Old Testament was proclaimed by Connie Boutin and the second reading from The New Testament by brother-in-law Ken Jarvis. The Offertory Gifts were presented by sisters-in-law Velma Cameron and Theresa Hinman and brother-in-law Ken Jarvis. Special Words of Remembrance were shared at the shrine by son, Herbie Pearo and at the cemetery by niece, Lisa Jarvis Eldred who also shared a letter composed by her brother Tim Jarvis Among the delegations in attendance were representatives from the, United States Department of Homeland Security including the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Service, Grand Isle County Court, Grand Isle County Sheriff’s Department, Alburgh Town and Village Offices, Alburgh Public Library, Alburgh Historical Society, Vermont Precision Tools, Christopher Advertising, Burlington Police Department, Irick Excavating, and the parish communities of Saint Amadeus, Saint Joseph’s Mission, Saint Patrick’s of Rouses Point and Saint Anne’s Shrine. The Rite of Committal and Interment followed at the Pearo family lot in Saint Amadeus Cemetery with Father Cummings reading the committal prayers. The bearers were, Jason, Zachary and Joshua Pearo, Jeff Jarvis, Alex Goodsell, Larry Paul Cameron, Derek Thedford and Matthew Goodsell. Full Military Honors were accorded the deceased by members of the Vermont Army National Guard Funeral Honors Team. The American Flag which draped the U.S, Army and World War II veterans casket was folded by SPC Danielle Quenneville and SPC Jack Curtis and presented to Philip Pearo by SPC Darrell McClay. Taps were sounded by SPC Angelo Pasquale. Following The Prayers of Committal and Military Services a reception was held for family and friends at the Alburgh American Legion hosted by many members of the Alburgh Community. On Thursday evening during the visitation members of the American Legion, Creller-Landon Post 60 and Auxiliary conducted a vigil service. Actively participating were, Commander Shawn Creller and Chaplain Eulice Gaudette. Also on Thursday evening Father Thomas D. Nadeau conducted a Vigil for the Deceased with Maurice Gauthier provided the music.
