FUNERAL HELD: Denis T. Rainville
DATELINE: Highgate Center, Vermont
The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, February 15, 2016, at 11 a.m. from Saint Louis Roman Catholic Church. Denis’ cousin, Father Marcel R. Rainville, SSE was the celebrant and homilist. John Ferland and Paul Laroche served as Ministers of the Altar. Music was provided by organist and soloist, Mary Jo Gillilan. Hymns selected were, Here I Am Lord, Amazing Grace, Psalm Twenty-Three, Ave Maria, One Day At A Time, Un Jour a la Fois, The Song of Farewell and Jirai la voir un Jour
The White Funeral Pall was draped over Denis’ casket by his wife, Jeannine Rainville; son, Matthew Rainville; daughters, Emily Rainville, Karen Hockaday, Caroline Lounsbury and Denise Tougas. His wife Jeannine then placed the Crucifix. Special Words of Remembrance were shared by longtime family friend, Brian Rowell. Scripture readings from The Old and New Testament were proclaimed by Denis’ sister, Raymonde Perron and sister-in-law, Jean Rainville. The Offertory gifts were presented by his five children, Emily Rainville, Karen Hockaday, Caroline Lounsbury, Matthew Rainville and Denise Tougas.
Among the large delegations in attendance were representatives from the Vermont Senate and House of Representatives, Highgate Town Offices, Highgate and Franklin School Districts, Green Mountain Forest Products, Green Mountain Dairy, Dental Offices of Doctors Dickinson and Branon, Bourdeau Brothers, Rene J. Fournier Farm Equipment, United States Postal Service, Highgate Volunteer Fire Department, Missisquoi Valley Rescue, O.C. McCuin & Sons, G. Boucher Fertilizer, M&T Sand and Gravel, Terricel Transit, Shaggy’s, Northwestern Medical Center, Knights of Columbus Saint Edmund of Canterbury Council 7669 and Fourth Degree Assembly 2207, Daughters of the Holy Spirit, and the parish community of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary – Saint Louis.
The Rite of Committal and Interment followed at the Rainville family lot in Saint Louis Cemetery with Father Rainville reading the committal prayers. The bearers were, son, Matthew Rainville and Kyle Gagne, David Brady, Luke Rainville, Dan Rainville, Alex Rainville, Chris Reed and Greg Tarte.
Following The Prayers of committal a reception was held for family and friends at the Father Jean Paul Laplante Parish Center hosted by, Mrs. Raymonde Choiniere and the Saint Louis Ladies of Saint Anne.
