FUNERAL HELD: Hortence Mary Vanslette
DATELINE: Swanton, Vermont
The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, January 23, 2016, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Father Luke P. Austin was the celebrant and homilist. Eugene LaBombard and Cleo Yandow served as Ministers of the Altar and Mrs. Theresa Begnoche assisted as Eucharistic Minister. Music was provided by soloist, Jeanne Begnoche accompanied by organist, Michael Olmstead.
The White Funeral Pall was draped over Mrs. Vanslette’s casket by her daughters, Patricia A. Johnson, Jane l. Vanslette and Christine V. Ash. The Crucifix was then placed by her son, David A. Vanslette. Special Words of Remembrance were shared by granddaughter, Sarah Faulkner. Scripture readings from the Old and New Testament were proclaimed by grandsons, David Vanslette and Zachary Johnson. The Presentation of the gifts included Mrs. Vanslette’s great grandchildren presenting a single pink carnation as well as granddaughters, Isabella and Amanda Vanslette presenting the Wine and Ciboria.
Among the delegations in attendance were representatives from the Vermont Senate and House of Representatives, Highgate School District, Mary S. Babcock and Swanton Central Schools, National, State and Franklin County Retired Teachers Associations, Mylan Technologies, The Tyler Place, The Housewives of Marco Island, Winterset, Sticks and Stuff, Bob Santini Catering, Local Avon Representatives, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Charles DaPrato Post 778 of Swanton, M&T Sand and Gravel, Elite Hair Salon, Northwestern Medical Center, Office of Attorney George Spear, The Boat Works, Grand Avenue Enterprises, Terricel Transit, many Highgate Springs friends and neighbors and the parish community of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary – Saint Louis.
Entombment followed at Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery Vault to await Spring Interment at the Vanslette family lot in the Highgate Center Cemetery. The bearers all grandsons were, David Vanslette, Sarah Faulkner, Michael Conn, Morgan McCuin, Benjamin Johnson and Spenser Ash.
Following the liturgy a reception was held for family and friends at the My-T-Fine Restaurant in Highgate Springs hosted by Mrs. Nancy Lussier and staff.
