Obituary: Ernestine Clark Cleland

Ernestine Clark Cleland, age 86 years, died early Monday morning, March 21, 2016, in the Northwestern Medical Center with loving family at her side.
Born in Bristol on, December 25, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Leslie and Ruth (Vincent) Clark. She attended Bristol schools and later graduated from the Burlington Business College. On June 3, 1950, she was married to Robert W. Cleland who predeceased her on October 7, 1987.
For many years Ernie was associated as a teller with the Chittenden Bank of Alburgh. She was a long time member of the Alburgh First Congregational Church now the Union Bible Church where she has served as a trustee and volunteered in the Vacation Bible School. As a very active member of the Alburgh community she served since 1962 as president, treasurer and trustee of the Alburgh Public Library. She also served as treasurer of the Island Arts and was a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Creller-Landon Post 60 in Alburgh.
Ernie leaves her daughter, Leslie Bazini of Northville, MI and her son, Michael Cleland and his wife Wendy of Colchester. She also leaves grandchildren, Andrew Bazini of Novi, MI, Elena and husband David Dvorak of Chicago, Emily Bazini of Northville, MI, Marnie and Jim Branca and their son Tommy of Swanton and Mandy Cleland and her children, Ivy and Julius of Stowe; two sisters, Norene Kiser of Rockledge, FL and Elaine and husband Armand Premo of Alburgh and Cocoa, FL as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held Friday, March 25, 2016, at 1 p.m. from the Alburgh Union Bible Church. 14 S. Main St., Alburgh Village. Pastor John C. Kehoe will officiate. Interment will follow at the Cleland family lot in Riverside Cemetery, Swanton.
Friends may call at The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.
