OBITUARY: Tressa Long Condon

DATELINE:  Saint Albans, Lebanon, NH

 

Tressa Long Condon, age 62 years, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 19, 2010 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.

 

Born in Newport, VT on, September 4, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Opal (Hannah) Long. On September 23, 1972 she married Phillip Condon who survives her.

 

 Tressa received her early education in the Albany, VT school system, and furthered her studies at the Jeanne Mance School of Nursing and Saint Michael’s College where she received her diploma in Nursing, subsequently leading to her licensure as a Registered Nurse. In 1968 she graduated from Saint Joseph’s College in Saco, Maine with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Health Care Administration and in 1994 received her Vermont Nursing Home Administrators License. In 1979 Tressa became the administrator for the Holiday Nursing Home in St. Albans, VT and along with her husband Phillip purchased the facility in 1981. In May of 2004 she and Phillip constructed and began operating the new Franklin County Rehabilitation Center in St. Albans Town. In 1998 Tressa was appointed by then Governor Howard Dean to the Vermont Nursing Home Licensure Board a position that she held to this day.  She had also served as Vice-Chairperson of the Advisory Board at the Fanny Allen Hospital School of Nursing.

 

Outside of Nursing Tressa founded E. Ladd & Lassie Daycare Center operating from 1975-79. In 1997 Tressa became a director of the Franklin Lamoille Bank and was appointed Chairperson in 2000. She served as chair until the merger with Banknorth in 2002 serving again as chair until 2006.

 

In addition to her husband  Phillip of 37 years, Tressa leaves two daughters, Coleen Condon of St. Albans and her special friend Clinton Kohaut of Ticonderoga, NY and Heather Condon and fiancée James Smith of Colchester; her mother-in-law, Lois Condon of S. Burlington; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Patricia Condon of Colchester and Perry and Cathy Condon of Burlington, one nephew and two nieces.

 

She was predeceased by a sister Kay, a brother George and her father-in-law Henry Condon formerly of Colchester.

 

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 24, 2010 at 11 a.m. from Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church, Lake St. St. Albans City. Fr. Maurice J. Roy will be the celebrant and family friend, Maryknoll Fr. Fernando Gosselin the homilist. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Condon family lot in the Saint Albans Bay Cemetery.
