DATELINE: East Alburgh, Vermont Emery Robert
“Pete” Couture, age 71 years, died unexpectedly, Monday, July 5, 2010, from a
sudden heart attack. Born in
Burlington, on, October 23, 1938, he was the son of the late Robert and
Violet (Greeno) Couture. He was a graduate of Burlington High School and in
1961 was married to the former Judith Smith who survives him. After high
school Pete enlisted in the United States Air Force. He became an
accomplished cook working in various restaurants in Maine and Vermont until
his retirement. He was an avid bowler winning several tournaments and trophies
both in Maine and Vermont. Pete also loved to play Bingo with his wife and
children. After retirement he loved to “putter around” go to camp at Lazy Days
in Mooers, New York, making lots of newfound friends and playing cards. Pete
also loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great
grandchildren. He was predeceased
by his parents; sister, Shirley and a grandson Adam Duval. Pete leaves
behind his wife Judy of 48 years; six children and their families, sons Doyle,
Darren, Derek and his wife Veronica; daughters, Danielle and husband Tony,
Devera and her husband Marty and Darla; 16 grandchildren, three great
grandchildren; two sisters, Janet from Winthrop, Maine and Barbara from
Burlington and two brothers, Bernie from Milton and Richard from Florida as
well as several nieces and nephews. A Funeral
Service will be held Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at 11 a.m. from The Kidder
Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton, (802-868-3331). The Reverend Doctor
Marguerite Gage, pastor of Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church will
officiate. Interment will take place later at the convenience of the family.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until
the hour of the funeral. The family requests that in lieu of flowers gifts in
Pete’s memory be made to assist the family with expenses at, Key Bank, in
