William E. Fournier (a.k.a. Slick Will) passed away unexpectedly Saturday, February 13, 2016.
† William was born January 10, 1993, to Susan and Earl Fournier of Swanton, VT. William leaves behind a brother David Fournier and his wife Brandie and their two children Aiden and Andrew; a sister Amanda Calhoun, her husband Jason and their son Eli. He also leaves behind the love of his life, soulmate, the reason for the twinkle in his eyes and many read post it notes to his wonderful woman Meghan Ladd who will forever be part of Williamís family.† He also leaves behind the most loyal friends who supported him and became a part of his family.
†Williamís educational years began at Swanton Elementary School and continued on to Missisquoi Valley Union High School where he graduated on June 10, 2011. He ††was accepted into Vermont Technical College where he received a two year degree in Diversified Agriculture. As we all know, William had the courage and the strength to take and adventure of a lifetime by going to New Zealand for a year, with the support of his college professors and family. He returned with enthusiasm, wisdom and wonderful adventures he shared with all of us.† William and David his older brother and role model worked side by side as 4th generation farmers on the family farm. William made a decision to be an advocate for the organic farming communities and to be able to work on the family farm and pass it on to his nephews and his own family someday. ďHe was proud to be a member of the Hog Island Community. He was also an avid duck and deer hunter especially when being able to enjoy the experience with friends and his cousin Ben.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, February 19, 2016, at 1 p.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada St., Swanton. Father Luke P. Austin will be the celebrant and homilist, concelebrating with Father Brian J. Cummings, SSE. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Fournier family lot in the West Swanton Cemetery.
Friends may call at The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton on Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. Father Austin will conduct a vigil service at 8:45p.m. and remain after for The Sacrament of Reconciliation.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes to have contributions made to Future Farmers of America at Missisquoi Valley Union High School 100 Thunderbird Drive Swanton VT 05488.
