Nov
17th, 1924 - July 20th, 2010 Joe
Palardy most recently of Venise, Quebec died on July 20th, after several
years of declining health. He was the second eldest of ten children
born to Emile Palardy and Madora (D'arsigny) Palardy of St. Damase,
Quebec. Joe
began earning his lively hood in 1952 from dairy farming and sugaring in
Enosburg Falls back in the days of sap tanks on horse drawn sleighs. Joe
and Rejane discovered the wonders of farming on the more level terrains of
Alburgh on Lake Champlain from 1963-2005, when they retired to Venise en
Quebec. While
in Alburgh he enjoyed volunteering on several community boards, and was once
Regional Chairman of NFO (National Farmers Organization) as an activist for
better milk pricing. Combining his Canadian sensibility with Yankee
(VT) ingenuitity enabled him to view opportunities with a unique perspective.
He was an innovator and was unafraid to accept new concepts. For
instance he was the first farmer in the Northeastern United States to
purchase a large round hay bailer. Joe
and Rejane collaborated on many ventures both agricultural, and
non-agricultural. His biggest joy was to sit at the head of the large
family table during the holidays, reflecting on his life's blessings. He
is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rejane (Gareau) Palardy, currently of
Venise, Quebec. He also leaves behind six children, 13 grandchildren,
and one great grandson to honor his memory. Michelle and Dean Creller
of Cocoa, Fl.; Martha Soule of South Burlington; Guy and Susan Palardy of
Alburgh; Sylvia Jensen of Isle La Motte; Evelyn and Peter J.R. Martin of St.
Albans; and Sarah Harrington of Campbell Hall, NY. Grandchildren
include Andrew and Beth Creller of Huston, TX.; Josip Martin and
his fiancée Shannon Garcia of St. Albans; Marc Palardy and
his fiancée Randi Martineau of Chazy, NY.; Nicole Palardy and
her fiancé Joseph Ducharme of San Antonio, TX.; Allison Jensen,
Danielle Palardy, Jared Palardy, Ian Jensen, Morgan Soule, all of Burlington;
Martin Jensen, of Isle La Motte; Kiersten, Chelsea, and Taylor Harrington of
Campbell Hall, NY. Sean Palardy of Chazy, NY is his beloved great grandson. Among
his brothers and sisters he leaves three brothers: Armand, Jean Pierre, and
Gilles Palardy and three sisters: Celine, Monique, and Agnes along with their
families, all from St. Demase and across Quebec. He was predeceased by
his parents and three brothers: Honore, Gabriel, and Gaetan. A
Vermont memorial is planned beginning with calling hours held at Kidder
Memorial home in Swanton Friday, July 23th from 4-8pm. A memorial funeral
mass will be at 11am at Saint Ann's Shrine in Isle LaMotte on Satuday, July
24th. Burial will be in the Palardy family plot in St. Damase on
Monday. |
