DATELINE: Burlington / Swanton, VT Mrs. Alida F. Reynolds, age 89 years, a former
longtime Swanton resident and for the past several years of Valade Road in
Burlington’s New North End, died late Saturday afternoon, July 10, 2010, at
the Starr Farm Nursing Center with loving family at her side. Born in St. Albans, VT on, April 25, 1921, she was
the daughter of the late Richard and Grace (Zweeres) Silk. She received her
early education in St. Albans schools graduating from Bellows Free
Academy-St. Albans. On February 6, 1943 she was married to Palmer P. Reynolds
who predeceased her on February 1, 1976. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Reynolds was
associated as an inspector with the former Union Carbide Corporation. She was
a longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Robert Glidden Post 758
Auxiliary as well as the American Legion Auxiliary, Green Mountain Post 1 both
of St. Albans. She will be remembered for her love of cooking and baking and
especially spending summers at the family camp on Goodsell Point in Mallets
Bay Colchester. She leaves her daughter, Nancy Medor, (with whom
she had made her home), of Burlington and her son Richard Reynolds and his
wife Theresa of Swanton; two grandchildren, Robyn LaPan and husband Jami and
Shane Reynolds and two great great grandchildren, Cody and Kaitlyn LaPan all
of Swanton. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters, Gertrude Clark of
Swanton, Merton Silk of Hardwick, Grace Mack of Panton, Jaunita Benoure of
St. Albans and Betty Ives and her husband Bob of West Swanton and many nieces
and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs.
Reynolds was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Walter Silk of St. Albans,
Rawlette Silk of Arizona, Eunice Patnaude of St. Albans and Richard Silk Jr.
of St. Albans and her mother and father-in-law, Wilfred and Ethel Reynolds. Mrs. Reynolds family wishes to give “special
thanks” to special friend and caregiver Sue Goulette, Dr. Dan Donnelly and
the management and staff of the Starr Farm Nursing Center, including the
Chittenden Unit and Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy, (you know who
you are), for all of their love, care, concern and support. A Funeral Service will be held Thurs. July 15,
2010, at 11 a.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave. Swanton,
(802-868-3331). Father Thomas D. Nadeau will officiate. The Rite of Committal
and Interment will follow at the Reynolds family lot in Saint Mary’s Roman
Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wed., from 4 to 7
p.m. In lieu of flowers the family request that gifts be made in her memory
to the, Starr Farm Nursing Center, specifically for the, Chittenden Unit and
