OBITUARY: Philip Leo Tremblay

DATELINE:  Colchester / Alburgh, Vermont

 

Philip Leo Tremblay, age 72 years, a native of Alburgh Springs and a 33 year resident of Watkins Road in Colchester died early Saturday evening, May 8, 2010, at Fletcher Allen Health Care with family at his side.

 

Born in Alburgh Springs on February 2, 1938, he was the son of the late Joseph and Martha (Boucher) Tremblay. He received his education in Alburgh Schools and graduated from the former Alburgh High School. On January 4, 1965 he was married to Sallye Adams who survives him.

 

Prior to his retirement Phil had been associated for nearly 40 years as a carpenter with MACG, Inc. of Hinesburg and in earlier years worked for the Central Vermont Railroad in bridge and building. He was a longtime member of the American Legion, Post 61 of Colchester and will be remembered for his love of the outdoors especially hunting and fishing.

 

In addition to his wife Sallye of 45 years, Phil leaves his son, Jason Tremblay and wife Lori and two grandchildren who he adored, Liam and Rogue all of Barre; a sister, Laura Tremblay and two brothers, Andrew and Clement Tremblay all of Alburgh Springs; several brothers- in-and sisters in law, Karen and Edward Campbell of Sudbury, Ont., Frances and Fred Linkutis of St. Blaise, P.Q, Robert and Cathy Adams of Ont., Paul Adams of  P.Q. and Almeda Adams of Clarenceville, P.Q.; special nieces and nephews, Alan Ouimette, Sally Sprague, Joan and Ron Whitesell and great nephew, Cody Ouimette all of Alburgh as well as several additional nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

 

Besides his parents Phil was predeceased by two sisters, Leona Tremblay and Rosanna Ouimette; three brothers, Gerald, Paul and Edward Omer Tremblay; sister-in-law, Winona Tremblay and brothers-in-law, Rae Adams and John Ouimette.

 

Friends may call at The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave. Swanton, (802-868-3331), Wednesday, May 12, 2010, from 2 to 4 p.m. To conclude the afternoon The Reverend Mr. Duane Langlois will lead a short prayer service. Interment will take place later in Saint Amadeus Roman Catholic Cemetery, Alburgh.
